When can we host events?

Berkeley Art Center is available for rental Tuesday through Sunday, from 10 AM to 10 PM, provided there are no other scheduled BAC events (events calendar). Please note that exhibition schedules may also affect gallery availability.

How can we see the space?

The gallery is open Thursday - Sunday, 12-5 PM .  A site visit will be scheduled once you fill out the online inquiry form, to visit the gallery and go over the next steps.

Is the venue available exclusively for my event?

Yes, if you request a private event. We will notify our community in advance of this special closure.

What fees are due upon booking a space?

We require a refundable secure deposit as an initial payment along with the signed contract when you commit to booking the space. The balance due must be received two weeks prior to the event along with a certificate of liability insurance to confirm the rental.

What is included in the rental fee?

All rental fees include a cleaning fee, and on-site staff. Additional lighting and A/V equipment are available and can be added to your contract with additional fees.  (**available AV equipment for extra fee: projector for videos, a sound system for speech or music and a microphone**)

Can my event go longer than expected?

Yes, your event can extend beyond the scheduled time; however, additional fees will apply for every minute past your contracted rental period. Please note that Berkeley Art Center is located in a residential neighborhood, and noise restrictions begin at 10:00 PM.

What are renters responsible for in terms of setup and cleanup?

Renters are responsible for both setting up and cleaning up before and after their event. This includes restoring all rented areas to their original condition. A staff representative will be on-site during the event to review a cleanup checklist with renters to ensure the space is left in adequate condition.

Please note that setup and cleanup time is included in the total rental period outlined in your contract. We recommend allocating at least 30 minutes for setup and 30 minutes for cleanup, but how you divide your time is up to you. Any additional cleaning or repair required after the event will be at the financial responsibility of the renter.

Are food and beverages allowed in the galleries?

Yes, food and beverages are allowed, with some restrictions. Dark liquids such as red wine and coffee are not permitted inside the gallery, but may be served in the lobby and patio areas. This policy may vary depending on the sensitivity and fragility of the artworks on view at the time of your rental. Renters are financially responsible for any damage caused by their guests.

Can I serve alcohol at my event, and what are the requirements?

Yes, you may serve alcohol at your event, but it is the sole responsibility of the renter. You are required to obtain any necessary ABC permits and are fully liable for all guests consuming alcoholic beverages. If alcohol will be served, you must provide proof of additional liability insurance. Please note that red wine is not permitted in the gallery space, but is allowed in the lobby and patio areas.
